Lynn Bowden traded??

Lynn Bowden a receiver, turned qb, turned rb drafted in round 3 by the Raiders this season was just traded...he lasted just 4 months with the team. The part that doesn't make sense to me is the fact that they packaged him, and a 6th round pick for a fourth round pick. So they essentially wasted a third round pick and a 6th round pick in exchange for a 4th round pick. How is it that Bowden was so unwanted in Las Vegas that he was not only traded but was traded for a pretty steep loss.

He now joins the Dolphins who already added Matt Breida, and Jordan Howard to their backfield earlier this offseason. So the question now becomes where will Miami use him? Is he going to play RB after spending his entire offseason training as a runner, go back to playing receiver, or will he be used as an emergency qb?

Reports out of Miami just 2 days after the trade state that Bowden will play wide receiver for the Dolphins. This should make for a quicker transition for Bowden who played WR in college. Through three seasons Bowden was able to rack up 114 receptions for 1,303 yards and 6 tds. Including 67 receptions for 745 yards and 5 tds in 2018 proof he can excel at receiver given the chance. However I still expect to see contribute in other ways. I expect him to at times line up in the backfield later in the season when he has become comfortable with the system. Bowden is coming off a season in which he had 185 Carrie's for 1,468 yards and 13 tds. I know that his stats were aided by being a wildcat qb making his carries but you can't simply ignore 7.9 yards per carry and 13 tds. Especially when Miami has completely revamped their backfield this season. He will likely also see time on the kick return team. He had 71 returns for 1,628 yards or just over 22 yards per return. He also added 9 punt returns for 199 yards or 22.1 yds per return, and 2 tds. When looking at his stats its impressive how much this guy did for his team. Quite literally lining up at every skill position that touches the ball minus tight end. I am legitimated surprised he wasn't asked to kick or punt too.

His career stat line through a total of 38 games:
38 of 79 passes for 495 yards 3 tds 5 ints
206 carries for 1,530 yards and 13 tds
114 receptions for 1,303 yards and 6 tds
71 kick returns for 1,628 yards
9 punt returns 199 yards and 2 tds
3 tackles

So in 38 games this guy was responsible for:479 touches, 5,105 yards, 24 tds, 3 ints and 3 tackles. That's insane production for a guy who moved everywhere on the offensive side of the field. It's not as if he was allowed to master any 1 position during his time there, yet he still was able to put up just under 2,000 yards a season despite only throwing 79 passes. Regardless what happens at the next level Bowden has a huge fan in me and I can't wait to see him play in the NFL.
