So what are realistic expectations for this rookie 7th round pick after a shortened offseason? Well looking at his college career it began rough. He spent a year as a backup to Nathan Peterman, then went on to be platooned at quarterback as a part time starter until losing his job to a freshman. Seeing the writing on the wall he transferred to James Madison where he immediately became the starter. As a junior he played in 13 games completing 211 passes for 2,275 yards with 16 tds and 12 ints adding another 433 rushing yards and a team leading 9 rushing tds. As a senior he improved as a passer. He started 16 games completing just under 71% of his passes for 3,441 yards and 29 tds, 6 ints while displaying his athleticism he ran the ball 122 times for 569 yards, and 7 tds. Long story short? He is capable of providing enough at the position on a team with Zeke to rely on that he could upset my team the Eagles.
This is the exact scenario that scares me especially when it comes to the Cowboys. They have a history of young unproven qbs coming out hot in their first few games. Their two most recent long term starters as perfect examples.
